Well a little trip around Eastern Ontario

Well, took a trip to Kingston this weekend as well as to Ottawa. Pretty neat all around. Got a chance to see Ani Difranco in Kingston, she was very good. Dan Bern opened for her and he was also quite good.

Ottawa was neat, first time there, got to see the cats on Capital Hill or whatever you call them, saw just about as many racoons eating the food but who cares.

The drive wasn't so bad, 3 hours to kingston and then 2 hours to Ottawa. Also got a chance to play Risk for the second time in my life. I did alright, but not great. The game didn't finish so I cannot say that I lost or anything, in fact for a time I think that I was winning!

Tried to set up a small Windows home network today but I must be missing something as I just cannnot get it working.

I want to get my gentoo box connecting to the internet again using this new SMC router, but I am having some issues...i.e. no connection to the Internet. I should be able to get it working, but I just think that I am missing something. The ole command line skills are a bit rusty after not having been used for 6 months.

Soon though, ow yes, soon I will emerge the world! And then you'll all pay.

Saw the Noam Last night

Saw Noam Chomsky last night, it was pretty cool. The only bad part of the entire evening was that I was tired after the weekend, it being Sunday night.

I would have like to have been more awake and more aware, but even still it was pretty cool to see him speak live.

Ow thank you Microsoft

So, dont' install the Windows XP SP2 platform SDK if you are still using Visual Studio 6.0...it will cause you pain....pain.

Well it's not terrible but it will take up most of your day and you will feel like you did all this work in the end just to get back to square one!

Terrible, it looks like Visual Studio 6.0 is one the way out, even more so...soon you really won't be able to use it even more.

Sheesh...

A visit from Kings

ton.

Well Rod and Laura have arrived from Kingston. Rod is deffending his thesis today, Danielle has a meeting, I have to work, and Laura needs to look up information on meta-data.

Ahh what a day.

Met the neighbours parents last night, very nice.

DayGlo Radio - 80s with ATTITUDE

DayGlo Radio - 80s with ATTITUDE: "DayGloRadio.com ~ 80's with ATTITUDE"

For whatever reason I cannot stop listening to this radio station online, I've been listening to it for about two weeks straight, weird.

All is not well in mudville

Well it looks like all is not well, the stuff did indeed arrive, but 2 boxes short right now.

This means that my computer monitor, subwoofer, and some kitched implements are all missing. Not the biggest deal in the world...but still pretty big. Just waiting to hear back from the movers to see what the deal is.

Our Stuff Might Really arrive

Ow, our stuff might actually arrive today...three weeks late. It was supposed to arrive this morning at 8:00am but it didn't so I called, now it's comming at 11:00am, seems they got hung up at a weigh station.

Sigh, as long as it gets here today...

First Animation Into Ogre

Well I got my first skeletel animation into Blender, and boy does it look ugly and not work.

It seems as though the Blender Export script, or I'm guessing ogre itself deosn't support IK constraints, which is sort of a pain.

Looks like I'll have to go back and start my animation again, with out any constraints and see what happens.

Also my mesh didn't export as well as I thought it would, I think I have some normals messed up, I'll have to look into how to fix those up in Blender.

So in the next few weeks I'm looking to:

  1. Export a mesh that look right.
  2. Export a skeleton that works right
  3. ????
  4. profit
