Adios Fiachra

Well, by now Fiachra will be in Dallas with Marge and probably working, I hope he takes a day off but you never know.

We had his Bon Voyage dinner on Friday night, photos of which (taken by the always prepared Ander Kinnear) can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrewkinnear

It was a good night we spent a few hours eating at La Pallette, and then took a cab to Czehoski's to round out the night with a few more drinks, and a obligatory shot of tequila. Sadly as we were leaving I was not able to score another mouthful of tequila from the guy standing on the bar, only Fiachra and Laura were that lucky.

Then, we had Fiachra over on Sunday night for his first taste of pierogies (home made and imported from Winnipeg I might add,) a few more bottles of wine, and a final pint over at old Clinton's.

So Fiachra, I know that you'll be back up here in Toronto from time to time on business, but it was great knowing you over the last two and bit years. Danielle and I were very lucky to have had both you and Marge move in directly above us and develop a friendship with you. I hope that Dallas works out fantastically for you.

Too busy to Read those classics?

Are you just too busy to read books? Well here comes DailyLit to the rescue. Basically what DailyLit is a service that emails you bite sized chunks of public domain novels on a daily basis:

Because if you are like us, you spend hours each day reading email but don't find the time to read books. DailyLit brings books right into your inbox in convenient small messages that take less than 5 minutes to read. This works incredibly well not just on your computer but also on a Treo, Blackberry, Sidekick or whatever the PDA of your choice. In the words of Dr. Seuss: Try it, you might like it! (Oops -- it would appear that the actual quote from Green Eggs and Ham is "You do not like them. So you say. Try them! Try them! And you may.")

I'm starting off with Thus Spake Zarathustra just cause I've always wanted to read it. I think next will be the Divine Comedy if I can get through this one.

I figure that enough of my readers are booky nerds that will dig into this.

Mr. Travis T.

So if I was to, say, give myself a lopsided Mr. T/Travis Bickle style Mohawk whilst I was shaving my head I may look something like this:

Now I'm not saying that I would do anything like that, and then take photos of it for posterity, and then put them up on my blog. I'm just saying that if an event like the above mentioned were to occur I would probably look something like that...if.

and Action

or something of that nature...so we're back from our long holidays...well we've been back since late Thursday night, but now we're back in the sense that we are checking our emails and getting back online.

Sadly we forgot out camera so there are no photos of the lovely 29cm of snow that was dumped on Winnipeg, this whole green Christmas thing that is going on in Toronto is a bit weird.

The vacation home was good and it was very nice to see family and friends, and especially nice to get to spend some time with Isabelle since we hadn't seen her for six months, and at her age, six months means a heck of a lot.

So it was good to be there, and it's also really good to be back and slip into our regular lives...sleeping in your own bed is always nice.

Well, now I gotta get back to work.
