Well you know whatever

Saw this and I thought it was sort of funny, now I'm not sure how I feel about old Michael Moore, I mean I think he's funny but...I just think he's starting to get all loosey-goosey with the facts, and just cause the other side (we'll call them them wrong...) does that doesn't make it right...

Either way here's exactly what I was talking about:

Michael Moore Statement on Canadian Election

Michael Moore is currently in production on his next movie. As an avid lover of all things Canadian, he has issued the following statement regarding Canada's upcoming election on Monday:

Oh, Canada -- you're not really going to elect a Conservative majority on Monday, are you? That's a joke, right? I know you have a great sense of humor, and certainly a well-developed sense of irony, but this is no longer funny. Maybe it's a new form of Canadian irony -- reverse irony! OK, now I get it. First, you have the courage to stand against the war in Iraq -- and then you elect a prime minister who's for it. You declare gay people have equal rights -- and then you elect a man who says they don't. You give your native peoples their own autonomy and their own territory -- and then you vote for a man who wants to cut aid to these poorest of your citizens. Wow, that is intense! Only Canadians could pull off a hat trick of humor like that. My hat's off to you.

Far be it from me, as an American, to suggest what you should do. You already have too many Americans telling you what to do. Well, actually, you've got just one American who keeps telling you to roll over and fetch and sit. I hope you don't feel this appeal of mine is too intrusive but I just couldn't sit by, as your friend, and say nothing. Yes, I agree, the Liberals have some 'splainin' to do. And yes, one party in power for more than a decade gets a little... long. But you have a parliamentary system (I'll bet you didn't know that -- see, that's why you need Americans telling you things!). There are ways at the polls to have your voices heard other than throwing the baby out with the bath water.

These are no ordinary times, and as you go to the polls on Monday, you do so while a man running the nation to the south of you is hoping you can lend him a hand by picking Stephen Harper because he's a man who shares his world view. Do you want to help George Bush by turning Canada into his latest conquest? Is that how you want millions of us down here to see you from now on? The next notch in the cowboy belt? C'mon, where's your Canadian pride? I mean, if you're going to reduce Canada to a cheap download of Bush & Co., then at least don't surrender so easily. Can't you wait until he threatens to bomb Regina? Make him work for it, for Pete's sake.

But seriously, I know you're not going to elect a guy who should really be running for governor of Utah. Whew! I knew it! You almost had me there. Very funny. Don't do that again. God, I love you, you crazy cold wonderful neighbors to my north. Don't ever change.

(Mr. Moore is not available for interviews because he now needs to address the situation in Azerbaijan. But he could be talked into it for a couple of tickets to a Leaf's game.)

Not Political

Whoooo I like all this political heat around here, very interesting, but not for something totally non-political. It seems as though Stewie from the familiy guy is going to get his very own talk show.
The tyrannical tyke in the Fox animated series "Family Guy" will be the virtual host of a talk show being developed strictly for the Internet later this year.
Hmm seems weird.

Anyways talk to you guys later, oh and I went for an eye checkup, sill 20/20 for those keeping score.

Sigh...

Sigh...so the election is over, and I guess the results are no surprise to anyone, at least not me but I'm still disappointed anyways. What can you do? I cast my vote the same as the other 65% of us, it mattered in my local riding, but we still have a Conservative victory to contend with. I don't know if any of you guys see it but sometimes it feels to me like the right-wing is gaining strength, and this honestly frightens me.

Truthfully the election and the results made me want to get into politics. I lay in bed thinking "Man, this isn't the future of Canada I want. Their hope isn't my hope...what if they get a majority next time?" Then during my waning moments of consciousness I resolved myself to get into politics somehow to stop this conservative spread.

Now during the light of day and after my eye exam I'm not so sure that I really want to get into politics, but it was an exciting few hours.

Also, I'd like to send my sincere condolences to my old riding in Winnipeg - “Kildonan-St. Paul”, sorry to see that you guys got stuck with the big C again, but you did vote her in by a pretty heavy margin...

Also in other news Mario Lemieux is going to retire.

Laura's Birthday

Well you know what I forgot! Laura's birthday on Wednesday the 18th, what I jerk I am! So to Laura: Happy Birthday. Laura turned the ripe old age of 26, well I'll be.

If anyone wants to wish Laura a happy birday you can do so at her blog: http://thelazylibrarian.blogspot.com/

Dylan's Birthday

Well it's Dylan's birthday, and today he turns the ripe old age of 28.

Now I've known Dylan a long time and stuck with him through thick and thin. Whether he's kicking a kid in the head during a hockey game, wearing a dust mask and plastic wrap as underwear, or watching nascar I've been there...well except for that last one, that happened after I left.

So to Dylan: "Happy Birthday".

If anyone else wants to wish Dillie a happy birthday you can visit his blog: http://jdylanrutherford.blogspot.com/ tell'im Mark sentcha

Calling All Python Fans...

Hey everyone I just read about this and if you are a Monty Python fan you should definately check this out:
PBS will devote six hours next month to "Monty Python's Personal Best," a retrospective in which each surviving Python member selects and sets up his favorite skits from "Monty Python's Flying Circus."
You can read more about this over here, but the gist of the article is that "Monty Python's Personal Best" will be airing on PBS starting on Febuary 22nd. If I had cable I would definatly watch this series...I wonder if snowy old TVO will carrry this?

Unintentionally sexual comic book covers

Hello all, I know I said I would post some holiday photos and have only posted one, but I just couldn't resist posting this:

Unintentionally sexual comic book covers My favorite is number four. The website is pretty funny and you might enjoy reading Star Wars Episode III: a steaming pile of Sith as well.

Be forewarned that the site contains foul language and potty humour.

Holiday Photos

Christmas Eve dinner at the Mruss household, that's what this photo is. The is right when the dinner has started since we're all sitting there getting ready to eat some pea soup.

Mmmm pea soup.

My Parents Basement

So for anyone that's never been to my parents place before this is what the basement looks like. Well actually it's what a section of the basement looks like.

The section that has green shag carpeting and a massive old record player. I took this photo late New Years Eve and for whatever reason I think that it's really cool.

Anyways I hope that you like it, I'm planning on posting a collection of Holiday photos later on today, so don't think I'm just all about the rug.

Pre-Pre-Pre Post

Hey Folkers!

So things have happened in my life since the last time that I posted, but instead of hopelessly trying to remember and recreate all of those moments for you reading pleasure I have decided to scrap them and start re-blogging from right now.

Now I might drop a photo or two to let you know how the holidays went, but I don't think that I'll go into great detail about it.

Like the above picture of a half eaten fudge wreath and a toe-be-crackered Rod, lord knows what was going on there...

Yardoooo Home!

That's right sports fans I'm home with two cuddly cats, and a headache, flying at 5:50am seems to do that to me. Flying in a 50 seater was exciting though.

Now this blogaboo should start getting updated again....slowly...
