Back in the Real Big Smoke

Well the trip out West was lots of fun and now we're back out East with our noses to the grindstone.

We took a boat load of photos from the traditional (as seen above) to the romantic:

Either way, if you are interested in seeing a photographic history of our trip through The Couve, you can do so here: http://www.selsine.com/photos/vancouver

If you look hard enough you will be able to see photographic evidence of that marauding Flapper!

We got to do a lot of fun things, hike about downtown, drive outside of the city and see the surrounds, walk through Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium, sample some brew at The Railway club, and of course hang out with my family.

If it wasn't for the massive delay (well 2 hours) that saw us arrive at our apartment at 4:00am Sunday morning well I would have said that the trip went of without a hitch...but what can you do...nothing is perfect.

Posting from out West

Well hello everyone I'm sending you this from my Uncle's pad way out in Deep Cove British Comumbia. I'm enjoying my morning coffee and trying to figure out the transit system while Danielle takes a shower.

We're having some issues feeding my uncle's bird Flapper and trying to get him back into the cage. Hopefully he'll let me by the glooves so that I can get him back into the cage without bleeding.

The weather out here isn't too bad, 7 degrees with some showers to come, but judging from the forcast a few showers isn't anything new around here.

Well that's all for now, time to tackle that bird.

Sale! Sale! Sale!

So I was at Eaton Centre running some errands on Sunday and decided to make my way into the HMV to see what was cooking...it was interesting especially since I have not ventured into a mall-based record store in a while, but I wanted to see what new hip groups all the kids are listening to.

Apparently it's this Fallout Boy group, now I've never actually listened to them before so they may be really good, but when your lead singer appears in GAP ads it really doesn't make me want to listen to you too much. I don't know it's just not very rock and roll.

Anyways, what caught my eyes was their major sale! Two CD's for $30.00! Wow that's like $15.00 for a CD! And of course only certain Cd's we part of that gigantic sale...is it just me or does the whole CD industry not make any sense? Is there no record or cultural memory of this somewhere? CD's cost $15.00 when they first came out! Before they reached critical mass...and now that everyone and their grandfather has one they cost...more? Where is the sense in that?

Either way I didn't end up buying anything, although that Grammy Nominees 2007 was pretty tempting...but I was turned off when it didn't have any Josh Groban on it.

note: I've never actually heard any Josh Groban either so maybe he's pretty good I have no idea. I know it's sad to diss something I know nothing about, so if you love Josh Groban, or Fallout Boy, or the Grammy's you can really let me have it. I didn't even look at the Grammy CD, I just laughed when I saw that it was number 1 on the charts.

Rene and Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After the War

Now it's almost the weekend, thank the gods, so we should all head out and celebrate the fact that we have survived one more week. It's been a pretty nutious week around these parts so I'm really glad that the good old Friday feeling is starting to slip into me bones...the worst part is that right now all I want to do is sleep.

I'm sure something will pick me up tonight...perhaps it will be my first foray into the rich lands of the rutabaga, a wild and untamed land, where terms like "swedes" and "yellow turnips" are bandied as though we all knew what was being said.

Seriously baked rutabaga and cabbage for dinner, what could be better I ask you?

Time to finish the week off folks...

Leafs and Penguins

So, this Saturday night Matt was kind enough to bring me to my first Toronto Maple Leafs game. The game was pretty good with the leafs losing in overtime 6-5, my only real regret (besides the lost and the $12.00 beer I guess) was that the over time didn't last two more minutes, then I would have been able to see a shoot out as well.

I was actually surprised by how exciting I actually found the game, and that it had that largest hockey night in Canada audience of the season:

Hockey. Penguins-Leafs. CBC 1.65 million Largest HNIC audience of the year.

Aside form that it was a pretty quiet weekend with a run to Ikea on Sunday to gather some needed supplies to help furnish our new pad. WE are not done yet but the beast is lumbering towards its final resting place, at which time we will all be happy and celebrate over a fine feast.

Well to work my friends, to work!

Oh and thanks again Matt!

Moving on up!

So, this past weekend Danielle and I have moved up to the second floor in our apartment. For those interested in seeing the moving process or checking our the lay of the second floor land here is the photo album.

The move went alright and was certainly helped out by our friends who were lucky enough to witness the embarrassment that is my freezer. But really we couldn't have made the move without you guys so thanks a lot for your carrying, your cleaning, and your putting away.

For anyone who is concerned the phone number and the address for our new place is the same, so all cheques already in the mail should still reach us.

We're still moving things around and unpacking so I will update a bit later in the week once we get everything to where it's going.
