The Rock

Well the photo has nothing to do with this post, but I thought it was a perfect example of cats on leashes. Anyways tomorrow morning Danielle and I take off east into the wild blue yonder for our first trip to Newfoundland.

It should be good, we hope to cut across the entire province from St. John's all the way to Gros Morne and all points in between. I'm pretty excited...now to get back to packing and to cleaning...

Weekend Roundup!

Well last week Danielle was in Montreal presenting at a conference, so yours truly here, was at home making it crazy bachelor style...watching movies, programing on the computer, drinking beer, even going to go see a soccer game...you know crazy stuff.

Now that my wife is back in the Land of Toronto, things should be getting back to normal around here...whew it was rocking for a while there...

Garden 2007!

Garden 2007!

For full photo evidence check out the garden gallery.

So this Sunday was spent buying and planing a patio garden. Now some people might say that this is too early, but to others that just means more tomatoes and more spinach!

Thankfully I fall into the later category and it did not frost last night, so this morning Danielle and I are still the proud owners of a garden:

This garden consists of the following:

- Patio tomatoes
- Patio roma tomatoes
- One giant full sized beefy beefsteak
- Basil of an Asian variety
- Plain Thyme
- Garlic chives
- Green, Red, and JalapeƱo peppers
- Romaine lettuce
- Spinach
- Swiss chard.

Then non-edible:

- Hosta
- Irish Moss
- and some other flowery plants whose identi-sticks were lost.

Calling all NES Nerds

I thought that anyone who played the NES would enjoy this:

Man watching this totally took me back...I'll never forget that one time that king hippo actually got up...

The View from the Deck

So I thought I'd put up some nighttime pictures of the view from the deck that is attached to our bedroom.

Of course none of this is very exciting, but I mean at least it's some pictures to look at. You can see the moon and the giant phallus that is visible throughout Toronto.

The weather here has been pretty crappy for the last couple of weeks, all rainy and cloudy and what not, but for the last few days at least it's been sunny enough to be able to enjoy the outdoors again.

Well it's Friday! I hope everyone is happy!

The Da Vinci Code

Wow, this post is a few years late right? Well last night Danielle and I finally got around to watching The Da Vinci Code, after I failed to finish reading the final 1/3 of the book over the last year. Apologies to Matt, since I still have not returned his book.

Basically I think that this movie was pretty good, I don't see what all the negative reviews were about. Granted it's not a great movie by any stretch, but isn't it basically like the Dan Brown novels themselves, generally entertaining? I mean I read Angels and Demons in one weekend and it was pretty good, a fun little page turner that you might want to take to the beach, and I think that the same goes for The Da Vinci Code, its got some neat little factoids in there so you can say oh neat, I never knew that about Constantine, or whatever it is that you didn't know about before you watched the movie.

Then it mixes that in with a little bit of a murder mystery, you know, just to sort of amp up the fun, and well I thought it was pretty good.

Spoiler Alert! If you don't want to know what happens don't read the block quote below (how nerdy)

Now one issue I did have, and I don't know exactly how the book ends and how it compares to the movie, but I think that someone might have a stronger reaction to learning that one was the direct descended of Jesus Christ...and that your very existence in someways basically nullifies 2000 odd years of Christian teachings and dogman?

Eh what are you gonna do...

Plus I think that Audrey Tautou is pretty darn cool, and, as it turns out, only 13 days younger then me...we should meet.
