So now I'm done

Yes I will answer all of your speeding ticket questions, just not in this post, maybe in my njext post...I actually wrote a long post detailing the ticket while I was writting my last post, then I lost it and I haven't had the desire to detail it again...but I will just for you my loyal fans.

So last Friday I completed the program detailed in this book: The Beginning Runner's Handbook: The Proven 13-Week Walk-Run Program, which is what I have been using as a guide for my running so far.

I really like this book mostly because of the 13 week program which is training to get you prepared for a 10km run. Since I had no run to do I decided to run for a while, the result is this route:

Which took me an hour and a half to run, and it's also the longer time and distance I have ever run in my entire life, so completing it feels pretty darn good.

My only problem now is that I'm done the program what do I do now? Lucklily the book has for further programs, like maintenance programs, run faster, or run farther, but I'm still not sure what I want to do. The run farther seems interesting to me, as it's preperation for training for a half marathon, which seems pretty neato to me.

Anyways that's it, that's my big news on this September long...oh and I made a Lazy Pierogie Casserole last night which isn't too lazy but lazier then making your own pierogie, which if you a faithful reader of this lovely blog, you'll remember that I made at some point during the winter...man oh man sweeet.

geez man, I dunno about the "long" running stuff... I have heard bad things about knee and hip problems from running too long.

From what I have read harder running and more frequent sprint intervals is how one should progress... sometimes a nice short easy jog is just what the doctor ordered.

None the less an hour of running is still impressive!

Mark - do a race!!!

the Longboat club is one of the oldest ones in Toronto, and their run on the toronto island is a good one, small(ish) number of runners, great (and flat) route... and you get to spend some time on the island.

Oh yeah, and in the bad news category, if you're running as much as you are, the cushioning in your shoes is running out quickly. : (
Marathoners lay waste to a pair of shoes every three months.

Jimmer - Yeah running from all accounts can be very bad for you, the crapy deal is that I'm now starting to enjoy going out for runs.

THere is also the run faster approach which mixes in sprinting and jogging...although I'm not really interested in running faster just yet...

Chris - Thanks for the race idea, it is something that I've thought about, but I'm still not sure about it, I dunno why, who knows maybe I'll change my mind...

New shoes eh? Sounds like something someone who sells shoes would say...hah!
